"extremely easy and very comfortable to sail"

spaceObservations by Ben Michaelson, owner of encore:

I can say that this boat is extremely easy and very comfortable to sail. Last Sunday, my wife and I took the boat out for a very enjoyable sail. We sailed across the Chesapeake Bay in winds ranging from 8 to 15 knots and we had a ball. We passed every boat in sight, including some over 40 feet. My wife took the helm for over half of the day and I almost had to wrestle it away from her. She loves the boat! We have given up playing golf on weekends for sailing the e33. We get nothing but compliments about the looks of the boat, always followed by the question, "what kind of boat is she?"

From Jeremy Wurmfeld, co-founder of e sailing yachts and designer of the e33:

I am just back from a trip to Annapolis to sail with Ben Michaelson on his new e33 – encore. From a design and naval architecture point of view, the boat is simply everything we intended. We are thrilled. The whole program is going very well. My favorite moment in Annapolis occurred as Ben maneuvered the boat into his slip and a fellow against whom we had just finished racing, yelled over, “I am having boat envy." The compliments are frequent on board the e33.

We don’t have any photos of the e33 in Annapolis sailing yet, however, below are several shots of world famous Etchells sailors, Jud Smith and Dave Curtis match racing in Marblehead, MA. Jud is the reigning Rolex Yachtsman of the Year and Dave is a two-time winner of the same award.

From Robbie Doyle, co-founder of e sailing yachts:

We had a great evening sailing hull number 2, eclipse, in Marblehead. It was a light air and we starting 2 minutes behind the J105 fleet, which all use spinnakers. We were successful beating all but one of the J105's across the finish line! We also managed tp beat the J100 by 25 minutes or so. We have become acustomed to sailing with the cockpit cushions in place! The new Doyle light jib and reaching eyes were a big help.

Match racing an e33!

e33 match racing on July 7, 2007

Two-time Rolex Yachtsman of the Year, Dave Curtis, and reigning Rolex Yachtsman of the year, Jud Smith, went head-to-head in e33's to benefit Hospice of the North Shore (HNS).

rd

Dave and Jud donated their time and the crew seats were auctioned off to raise money for the 13th Annual HNS Auction. The best of 5 match race series took place on Saturday, July 7, 2007 in Marblehead, MA right off the lighthouse at the mouth of the harbor. It was an exciting morning of close racing with Jud Smith's team just nipping David Curtis' team at the finish line of the 5th and deciding race!

Boston Yacht Club in Marblehead, MA, was hosting the auction to benefit Hospice of the North Shore (HNS). HNS provides comprehensive and compassionate support for children and adults affected by life-limiting illness, death, and loss.
