Strictly Sail Chicago 2008

The e33 has now been in production for one year.  At the Strictly Sail Show 2007, the e33 made its first appearance in the Chicago area and shortly thereafter returned to the east coast to join her sistership in the Boston area for the 2007 sailing season.

This performance daysailer has been enthusiastically received and boats have been sold this first year into markets in the English Solent, the Pacific Northwest as well as Chicago and up and down the east coast.  Anyone seeing the e33 sailing is impressed with her profile as well as her performance.  A lot has been written about the e33 in the yachting magazines as well as lifestyle publications such as Forbes and The Virginia Sportsman.

The e33 has proven to be a boat with which both men and women can identify.  In the particular case of the Doyle family, Janet loves the boat for its simplicity and lack of intimidation.  Robbie loves the boat for its feel and performance as well as the gadgets he has managed to add!

The response to the second appearance of the e33 at this year’s Strictly Sail Show was outstanding.  The value for the money is second to none in the performance daysailer category currently on the market.  The boat that was in the show will be staying in the Chicago area and will be available for test sails through her owner, Keith Church.  Contacts us to take a test sail.

e33 Detail of the month

We will be highlighting a detail on the e33 each month over the next few months. In so many ways the details that make up the boat are what give it individuality, setting it ahead of the rest either in technology or just its appearance. In the case of the e33, those things add up to performance and ease of use. This month we will talk about a detail that is an option.

e33, Raymarine autopilot

To your left, is a picture of the optional removable Raymarine autopilot recessed into the side of the cockpit with the quick release waterproof plug. This application accomplishes all of our requirements while maintaining a clean appearance when not in use and easily removed and stowed away.

The objective of this installation was to provide the correct angle for the autopilot to perform at its optimum efficiency without being precarious and in the way, such as mounted on top of the cockpit seat bunk. This autopilot option allows the sailor to raise the main while under power when sailing single handed.

The bottom photo is an economical, yet effective way of securing the tiller while single handling the e33. Robbie Doyle uses this on "eclipse" in Marblehead enabling him to raises the main halyard from the companionway, as his halyard is not lead aft to winch in the cockpit.
